Fabulous Places Christmas Market

This weekend you’ll find me at the Fabulous Places Christmas market. I’ll be there on my stand with my rope wreaths alongside lots of carefully curated traders and makers sharing all things Christmas with visitors who come along to this lovely event.

Run by the amazing Deb from Fabulous Places, this market is a mecca for anyone who looks for handcrafted creations and Christmas gifts that are that little bit special. Throw in fairy lights, fizz and food stands serving the most amazing goodies and you’ve got yourself a rather lovely day out.

I’ve designed some new star rope wreaths especially for the event and along with my heart and traditional circular wreaths I’ll will be packing them up in my car and hotfooting it over to Derby for the weekend. I can’t wait to soak up the atmosphere and meet lots of lovely visitors stocking up on their Christmas shopping.

The market is on all weekend and doors open at 10am. You’ll find me on stand 73, do say hello if you stop by, I’d love to see you there.

Chelsea Gold Medal

I am so delighted to have been part of the Flowers From The Farm team that worked together to grow and arrange the flowers that went on our first Chelsea stand and that it was awarded a Gold Medal! It has been such an exciting adventure and although at times it looked like the winter would never end and the flowers would never grow, nature prevailed, the spring came and the flowers grew. 100 members snipped the best of the best of their blooms and send them to Chelsea. This Friday around 100 members of Flowers From The Farm will be snipping our flowers to send down to London for our first display at The Chelsea Flower Show. We have a prime location in the centre of the floral marquee and we will be using solely flowers from our plots around the country to show case beautiful British blooms. The display will be unique as this year there will be no floral foam used whatsoever.
My excitement levels are rising as I'm very proud to be sending some of my home grown flowers for the display from my cutting garden here in Lincolnshire.
I'm planning to cut Irises, Sweet Rocket, Cornflowers, Euphorbia and Geums to send to the show and will be out with my scissors tonight carefully selecting the very best stems to be part of the display.
Like many other growers I'm heading to the show next week and will hopefully be able to share some photos of the Flowers from the Farm stand with you in a future post.

At the beginning of February is the annual Flowers From The Farm conference and its AGM. This fabulous organisation to which I belong, promotes the use of British grown flowers, that are grown locally and hence have not travelled thousands of air miles and have a very low carbon footprint. #grownnotflown.

Local British flowers are seasonal and carry fragrances that is not always possible in their long travelled counterparts.

This year is my first as a member of Flowers From The Farm and I am delighted to have been nominated as Best New Regional Member in recognition for my time and effort that I have put into helping this organisation and promoting British grown flowers.

I was involved in helping out at the first RHS Chatsworth Flower Show, BBC Gardeners World Live and The Lincolnshire Show, all working on Flowers From Stand and helping to promote British Flowers and growers.

The overall winner will be announced at the Birmingham meeting in February and I'll be sharing the news over on my instagram account so if you fancy finding out more do follow me there - you'll find me as country_cut_flowers
